Favorite Things: Food & Drink

Here you’ll find teas, herbs, cheese making supplies as well as the equipment you need to preserve, bake, and cook from scratch.

We want you to know if you buy something using the retail links in our posts, we may earn a small commission (at no extra cost to you). We will never recommend anything we don’t believe in. Not for all the butter in Sweden. You can read our full policy about these things or contact us if you have questions.

  • Dried Nettle Leaf

We love harvesting our own nettles for eating fresh, but we trust Mountain Rose Herbs as our source for dried nettles to use in infusions.

  • Dried Oatstraw

Nearly everyone loves oats in some form, but what about the rest of the plant, the straw? It makes a nourishing infusion on it’s own or is great with nettles.

  • Astragalus Root Slices

For a simple immune-boosting soup we boil a few of these in water and then add Miso and chunks of tofu. Yum!

  • Stainless Steel Tea Spoon

This simple tool is basically a reusable teabag on a handle. It’s our favorite way to brew a single cup of tea.

  • Large Tea Infuser

This little tank measures four inches across and is great for brewing big batches of tea, including gallons of sun tea.

  • Stainless Steel Mesh Lids

These stainless steel mesh lids fit on standard mason jars. We use them for sprouts and straining herbal infusions.

  • Farmhouse tea on stool outside

Cattywampus Canceler Organic Loose Leaf Tea

We love all the blends at Farmhouse Teas, but this one is uplifting with tulsi/holy basil tea, ginger, lemongrass, and peppermint.

  • Southern Belle Grey Tea

This is one of our morning staples! It’s got a great flavor, beautiful blue flowers, and gives just a little kick.

  • DIY Kombucha Kit

This is what we will be using when we finally get around to making this bubbly beverage. Plus they have a great FREE mini course!

  • Mason Jar Fermentation Kit

We love this system because you can make small batches of food, right in the jar where you’ll store it.

  • Thermometer

This thermometer is easy to read and made in the USA. It’s great for all sorts of cooking, including making cheese.

  • Stainless Funnel with Strainer

We love this funnel! It’s great for straining elderberry syrup, cottonwood oil, and many other concoctions.

  • Beginner Cheesemaking Kit

Cheesemaking can be so much easier than you think! This is a great place to start in making this food at home.

  • Yogurt Making Kit

Making tasty and probiotic-rich yogurt at home is super simple with this kit. Plus the website has lots of great free learning resources.

  • Easy Goat Cheese Kit

Homemade goat cheese is an easy project that tastes absolutely divine. This kit is a wonderful place to start with this yummy item.

  • Wide Mouth Canning Funnel

This wide mouth funnel has a removable spout making it versatile for all sorts of purposes. While most people use it in canning, we commonly use it to portion out soups when doing weekly meal prep.

  • Wide Mouth Quart Mason Jars

These Ball mason jars have been made in the USA for more than 125 years. While originally designed for home canning, we use them for soups, drinking glasses, and anything else we can think of around the homestead.

  • Regular Mouth Pint Mason Jars

These jars work great for canning jam or using as smaller sized drinking glasses. We’ve currently got a few in the fridge holding pickled onions and cucumbers.
