ABOUT

A collection of stories, ideas, and seasonal inspiration for people finding their way through life's beautiful, messy middle.

We believe there is wisdom in the changing seasons, courage in becoming more fully yourself, and wonder waiting in the ordinary moments of everyday life.

No perfection.
No hustle.
No pretending.

Just an ongoing practice of noticing what matters and making room for it.

Welcome.

A wild life doesn't have to be loud

Sometimes it looks like fresh bread on a Tuesday.
A walk before the rain.
A handwritten note.
A garden gate left open for a neighbor.
A deep breath.
A second chance.

Sometimes it looks like laughing through tears.
Finding your footing after loss.
Noticing the rainbow after the storm has passed.

We believe joy is not the absence of hardship.

It's what grows alongside it.

Like a beloved patchwork quilt

Meet Julie and Kevin

We're Julie and Kevin.

We met while working with wildlife in the Great Pacific Northwest and quickly discovered a shared love of nature, adventure, good stories, and finding wonder in ordinary things. Along the way, we've weathered cancer, loss, unexpected detours, and all the twists that come with building a life together.

Wild Homestead Living began as a way to share our love of simple living, self-sufficiency, and the natural world. Over time, it became something deeper—a place to explore what helps us stay connected to ourselves, each other, and the things that matter most.

We don't have all the answers.

We're simply fellow travelers learning, noticing, and growing right alongside you.

We're glad you're here.

Hey there Neighbor,

At Wild Homestead Living, we believe in making seasonal, self-sufficient sustainable living simple—whether you’re in the city, country, or somewhere in between. Founders Kevin Mack (Type 1 diabetic) and Julie Stonefelt (two-time cancer survivor) are professional naturalists dedicated to helping you create the life of your dreams.
